Chair Riley asks HPD to meet with Ebenezer church on affordable homeownership
He says they have had challenges with HPD regarding Ebenezer, asks them to sit down with the organization; HPD (unknown speaker) says they would be happy to meet and have technical assistance programs.
We will work very closely with HPD on our approach to White Plains Road.
We know the AMI in that community.
We also have started to hear.
from community members, the types of housing needs that they have.
Right now, we have been focused on figuring out what the potential is along the corridor, as you know, just in terms of growth, right?
And then we can start to figure out what are the mix of housing programs that can be activated when we have a zoning that aligns with the corridor's needs.
And so as part of any neighborhood plan,
all of our agency partners at the table, HPD in particular, and they certainly will be at the table in the work that we do in White Plains Road.
Well, typically with the Ebenezer plan, because we have a plan on White Plains Road that wants to put home ownership, we are having a challenge speaking to HPD regarding the issues that Ebenezer is seeing.
So I would just, on the record, ask you guys for probably the 20th time, if you guys could come to the table and sit down with the organization to address that cause with the Ebenezer church location.
Sorry if I'm personally not familiar.
I mean, this is a faith-based organization that wants to develop on their land?
Correct.
Oh, we would be happy to meet.
I would say on the record, yes, we would love to meet with them.
We've done a lot of work to support faith-based organizations in developing affordable housing.
We recently launched a new...
Well, this one is affordable home ownership.
Okay.
We're happy to speak with them about that.
And we recently launched a technical assistance program with it.
We're going to be funding a new technical assistance program with Enterprise.
And we launched a series of classes for faith-based organizations and are happy to meet with them.
