Chair Riley asks if DCP analyzed zoning changes needed for housing targets
He asks if DCP has done analysis of zoning changes and new development necessary; Garodnick says strategies include citywide TOD, speed reforms, Sprint team, and Affordable Housing Fast Track.
Has DCP done an analysis of zoning changes and skills of new development necessary to actually meet these targets?
Sure.
So some of the zoning, some of the strategies that we're pursuing, right, are really focused on operating at speed and scale.
So citywide TOD approach, which can potentially create a lot of opportunity.
for housing and affordable housing, but also the speed reforms that we just talked about and standing up a sprint team, which would also help us move projects along
more quickly, as well as utilizing tools like the Affordable Housing Fast Track, which help us build in places where we haven't seen housing production, affordable housing production in a long time.
And so some of these tools, whether they're also making sure we're maximizing the opportunities through City of Yes as well, all of these tools are at play to make sure that we can reach that goal, at least through the work of DCP.
There's also all of the incredible work that HPD is doing and all the other housing agencies in order to reach that goal.
Okay.
