Chair Riley highlights Bay Ridge, Staten Island, and East New York plans
He mentions council initiatives in Bay Ridge, Staten Island's North Shore, Park Webster in the Bronx, and the East New York Neighborhood Plan which produced 6,000 units, over 50% affordable, with city investments.
We are doing the work as shown by the Council's initiative in Bay Ridge, Staten Island's North Shore, and in Park Webster's section of the Bronx.
We know that DCP understands the value of community engagement and neighborhood rezoning that provided the needed local investment along with new housing.
Recently, DCP has promoted the example of the East New York Neighborhood Plan.
In the 10 years since the plan was approved,
prove over 6,000 units of housing has been built, more than 50% affordable,
alongside hundreds of millions of dollars of city investments for neighborhood improvements, including new school seats, improved parks and open space facilities, and other critical infrastructure needed.
The council was proud to partner on this neighborhood rezoning, which represents the success that can be achieved through proactive neighborhood planning.
