Chair Sherman says DCP is assessing fast-track districts, no public analysis yet
He says they are assessing opportunities, the list was just produced, fast track goes into effect in January, and they will engage council members; no additional public analysis beyond methodology.
Thank you for your question.
So as noted earlier this month, we released the 12 affordable housing fast track communities.
These are the communities where we've seen affordable housing production lagging.
We, along with our agency partners, are certainly assessing opportunities in those neighborhoods, whether we see opportunities for growth or well as opportunities for city-led housing initiatives, such as housing.
that can be subsidized, as well as some of our Lyft initiatives.
And so we're taking that look.
The list was just produced earlier this month.
The fast track goes into effect in January, and one of the things that we'd like to do is also ensure that we're in conversation with those members so that we can be strategic about the opportunities that are before us.
Will DCP be releasing any public analysis on the fast track?
So the analysis that we released really is the housing production level.
As you know, and I know that we've had conversations with council members recently around the fast track, we have no specific plans at this time for actions in those neighborhoods.
We're literally assessing that as we speak.
And anything that we would move forward with, we want to make sure that we're having conversations with council members in those affected districts first.
And so we've started some of that review.
I know I've had conversations with also coming out to certain districts to walk the communities, make sure that we understand what those opportunities are.
But there's no additional analysis other than the methodology that we use to determine the fast track neighborhood.
