Council Member Louis asks about housing around future IBX stations
She asks if DCP has begun thinking about where housing would go around projected stations; Garodnick says they are in early stages, have had community engagement, and are hearing housing, street safety, and public space as priorities.
Got it.
Public engagement has begun on the South of Prospect neighborhood plan, thanks to your team, which is close to the IBX alignment.
In the context of this plan, has DCP begun thinking about where housing would go around projected stations?
So we're still in the very early stages, particularly with...
In developing our overall transit-oriented development proposal, but also with South of Prospect.
So as you know, we had our kickoff meeting last month.
We had a really great turnout.
We've had over 1,000 residents participate in our survey.
We have some walk shops coming up this week as well, too.
And so we've not yet started to project where housing will go, what potential zoning framework is in that district.
We want to make sure that we're hearing from community.
We certainly are hearing housing is a priority, street safety is a priority, public space is a priority.
And so we're factoring all of that into the plans moving forward.
Thank you.
