Q&A

Sanchez asks about after-hours variances and construction volume

New York City Council · Oct 21, 2026 · starts 1:28:06 · 48 sec

Sanchez asks how much construction occurs after hours and how many variances are requested and granted; Tigani says he will follow up with the numbers, notes there are about five specific reasons someone can apply for an after-hours variance, and points to the public map of approved after-hours variances.

Pierina Ana Sanchez

Can you, with respect to after-hours variances, can you tell me how much construction is being done after hours and how many variances have been requested and granted?

Ahmed Tigani

So I think we may have to come back to you with the after-hour variance numbers.

Ahmed Tigani

What I can say on after-hour variances, there are very specific reasons, about five, I believe, reasons why someone can apply for an after-hour variance.

Ahmed Tigani

We also keep a public map of after-hour variances where people can see where they've been approved and where they're active and for how long.

Ahmed Tigani

And I apologize, but we'll have to come back to you with a breakdown of that.

Pierina Ana Sanchez

No problem.

Pierina Ana Sanchez

Thank you.

Pierina Ana Sanchez

I appreciate the update.
