Hudson questions Rudin on ICL contract and repair notifications
Hudson asks when ICL took over (2008) and when roof and shower issues were reported; Rudin says these have been ongoing conversations for years, and the funding amount and timeline were only known in recent weeks.
Thank you so much.
Just a couple of questions as well.
And apologies if you already mentioned this, but when did ICL take over the contract at Borden Avenue?
2008.
2008.
Okay.
And when did you first notify DHS or DSS of the roof issues?
I don't have a date to give you, but we have been in an ongoing protracted discussion over the course of many years with the city about the roof.
And they informed us some number of years ago that it was in the city's capital plan.
Okay.
Would you say it dates back to 2008?
I would be hard-pressed to say that, but it has certainly been an ongoing topic for many, many, many years.
Okay.
It may well have dated back that far.
I just don't know.
Okay.
That's fair.
Thank you.
And then when did ICL first notify DHS or DSS regarding concerns with the shower facilities and privacy conditions?
Yes, similarly, this has been an ongoing conversation over an extended period.
We, as you can imagine, we're, you know, DHS is our partner and our collaborator.
And we also, one feature of our relationship, and this is not unique to ICL and Borden, it's the case across our portfolio of shelters.
I imagine my colleagues would say it's the case for them.
Advocating, raising challenges and advocating for more resources for the people we serve is a permanent feature of our relationship.
So in both the case of the showers and the roof, these have been ongoing conversations that have played out over time.
And when were you notified of that the funding was secured for both the roof?
And shower improvements.
We had been notified in the last couple of years that the roof was in the capital plan.
We did not know the funding amount and we did not know the timeframe until the last many weeks.
Okay.
And the showers too, our new need was approved to hire the vendor in the last couple of weeks.
Okay.
And, um,
