Morano offers Byrd help and asks about culinary program
Morano says the city should help before homelessness, offers his contact information, and asks about culinary program eligibility; Byrd says he was told residents could not participate.
Thank you, Mr.
Bird.
And I appreciate really hearing your perspective.
Obviously, I appreciate all of your service to the country.
But what you're going through now, in my view, this is exactly when and where the city needs to do a better job with outreach and intervention.
I don't think we should be waiting until veterans are homeless or in a shelter before trying to help them keep them in housing.
So the fact that you are getting some warning that, hey, you might be homeless in 90 days, this is exactly when all the resources of city government should be working to help you.
So I want to make sure you have my contact information before you leave here today.
And I'll work with DVS and any other agency that wants to work with us.
Just a point of clarity on the culinary program, because that seemed to be one of the areas where there was a little bit of a disconnect.
It was your understanding, and as somebody through your KP experience knows his way around the kitchen, it was your understanding when you were at Borden that...
People that were there, residents, weren't eligible for the culinary training program.
And if I'm wrong, please, they can correct me.
But the administration said, what ICL said is that the only thing it could have been is maybe you had to wait until a new cohort.
started and maybe that was the I've never heard nothing like that okay well thank you um let me I'm gonna everyone can ask many questions you want but I just want one one question for these three gentlemen and then I'll turn it over to you Councilman Wong
