Wong questions DHS attendance at CAP meetings and food access
Wong asks if DHS attends CAP meetings; Russell says yes, and Wong says residents raised issues with no action, says veterans want to cook because they are hungry, and criticizes culinary school access.
Yeah, it seemed to me that the
HHS should have people there at these CAP meetings, and they should be well aware of these issues that we're discussing today.
My question, do you have someone attending these CAP meetings?
Please answer.
Yeah, yeah.
I will turn it over to the deputy commissioner to answer.
So, yes, to answer your question, we do have DHS staff that attends the CAP meetings.
Yeah, but I'm sure these issues were brought up many times because I was told by the residents that they would discuss in CAP meetings and nothing was done or
addressed, is not being addressed, such as not enough food.
Look, if there's enough food, nobody will bother wanting to cook there.
The reason they want to cook there is because they're hungry.
And it's unacceptable to me that you allow the people in the cooking school to cook, but the veterans there cannot cook.
Think about that.
All right.
Okay.
Follow-up question.
All right.
Follow-up question.
