Council Member Ossé congratulates Nurse on COPA passage
Council Member Chi Ossé votes aye on all and commends Council Member Nurse for delivering on COPA despite private interests opposing it. He says COPA is the type of legislation New Yorkers need.
Permission to explain my vote.
Permission granted.
I vote aye on all, first and foremost.
And I just want to say that it's really rare for this council to pass landmark legislation,
and it's equally as rare for this council to deliver on maintaining affordable housing in the city, especially during an affordability crisis.
You know, we're hearing that word a lot from various different levels of government, and I really want to commend Councilmember Nurse for delivering on COPA and never giving up over the past couple of years when it came to this bill.
This is the type of legislation that New Yorkers need.
This is what they're asking for.
This is what they want their government to deliver on.
And even though there were private interests and dollars spent aiming to gut and defeat this legislation, you stayed committed.
Advocates stayed committed.
committed, and you got it passed here today.
So I want to congratulate you on being the true representation of what New Yorkers deserve when it comes to leadership in government.
Thank you.
Palladino.
