Chair asks how DOP coordinates with ACS, Law Dept, and defense counsel
Brooks-Powers asks how DOP coordinates with the Administration for Children's Services, the Law Department, and defense counsel on juvenile cases. Dessimore describes coordination with ACS for detention releases, intake, arraignment, and weekend and evening arraignment coverage.
And then for the family court, so they are there available at arraignment.
So when the young person is arraigned on a new charge, they're there to provide the court with some background information and also let the court know what risk level they are to determine what
ATD they may be appropriate for available to that young person.
They also stand up and provide information with regards to the investigations report and any progress report that is given to the court and all parties.
Any question that the judge may have in regards to how that young person who may be on probation, how they're functioning and they have additional questions that may not be
in the progress report, the CLO is there to facilitate that information and just be a conduit for the court and for probation.
Thank you for that.
And how does the department coordinate with the Administration for Children's Services, the Law Department, and Defense Counsel on juvenile cases?
So I think we, of course, coordinate, I guess, with regards to ACS.
It's, you know, for those young people that may be in detention and being released to probation or during the intake phase and at arraignment.
So, of course, you know, we have the team of officers that are coordinated with ACS who do weekend and evening arraignment for detention and intake.
