Eusebio and McKenzie describe return to prior gun policy and draft written policy
Eusebio says DOP has moved away from requiring all uniformed officers to carry guns and is determining who should be armed. McKenzie says he helped architect the prior policy, DOP is returning to it, and a draft should go to the executive team and union before being shared with the council.
I'm going to get cut off, so I want to ask one more question, which is,
Guns.
Commissioner Holmes insisted that every uniformed officer carry a gun.
What is the current policy of the Department of Probation as it relates to guns?
So obviously we have moved away from some of the policies that didn't make sense.
Part of this is we are in tangent working with the whole team working in what makes sense, who should carry and shouldn't carry.
We have made policies that support the people that needs to be, you know, obviously given the nature of our work that needs to be armed, will remain armed.
But by and large, the agency is not mandating folks that are in known, you know, enforcement unit to carry weapons.
Is there a new written policy that can be shared with us?
We, what stage is the policy?
