Chair asks about integration/digitization progress
Won asks what has been completed and what remains in integrating community hiring into procurement and digitizing reporting. Harry says OCH has gone from zero to 528 contracts and 1,200 hires, and is digitizing construction payroll and building broader data systems.
OCH's November 2024 instructor report described work to integrate community hiring into the city's procurement and workforce systems and to digitize paper-based reporting.
What has been completed so far and what remains to be done?
So I don't want to rehash all my testimony, but we really are proud of the work that has been done to date.
This went from zero contracts, zero anything, and no rules whatsoever, to now we have over 528 contracts already registered, estimating at $13.3 billion worth of contracts.
So we're incredibly proud of that work that has been done to date, the 1,200 hires based on only that one at 79 contracts that have been published in our reports.
And we've already begun digitizing a lot of this process, particularly on the construction side, trying to transform a paper-based process into collecting information digitally.
And we are continuing to work to put the...
Digital technology in place to really better collect data, share data across agencies.
And so there's definitely more work to be done.
We're still early on in this process, and this is not a subtle effort, right?
This is a really big systems change for all the city agencies doing procurement.
And so proud of the work to date, but certainly more.
More work ahead of us.
