Wong asks what percentage of jobs must be community hires
Wong asks what percentage of a vendor's jobs must be community hires. Harry says construction has a 30% hours goal, while other contracts have numerical goals based on contract value and hiring needs, not a fixed percentage.
Are the income...
Baselines based on state guidelines or something that your office determines?
It's based on the federal poverty guidelines.
I see.
Okay.
And, okay, so let's say a vendor is part of the community hire.
What percentage of their jobs have to be community hires?
Is it 100%, 50%?
75%?
Yeah.
So for the construction projects, those ones are the goal right now is 30% of the hours worked by community hires.
That's the goal.
On the other side, it is not based on a percentage.
The intention behind community hiring is to really drive these employers to the workforce system and make sure that they're working with the workforce system.
Ideally, we want them to be working with the workforce system for all of their jobs.
That's not exactly what's required.
There's a specific numerical goal that will be attached to it based on the contract value.
But it's based on hiring needs, right?
And so sometimes a vendor has to hire
no one to actually serve a contract and then they won't
but where they have vacancies, we want to make sure that they are working with the public workforce system for all of those if possible, but certainly at least the ones to meet their goals.
