Abreu asks DOT about funding and staffing for Vision Zero plan

New York City Council · Oct 27, 2026 · starts 0:29:02 · 56 sec

Abreu asks what funding and staffing are necessary to implement Vision Zero Reimagined. Flynn says the mayor made a historic commitment and DOT has resources for most of the plan, ramping up staffing and capacity in FY27.

Shaun Abreu

What funding and staffing levels are necessary to implement the Vision Zero Reimagined plan?

Mike Flynn

Yeah, so we're really excited that the mayor made a historic level of commitment to our safety and multimodal programs earlier this year.

Mike Flynn

And we have the resources to move ahead with the bulk of the Vision Zero plan.

Mike Flynn

It is a 10-year strategy.

Mike Flynn

So if there's additional resources needed, we'll certainly be in constant communication with City Hall and OMB on that.

Shaun Abreu

And are these resources currently available?

Mike Flynn

We're ramping up, yeah.

Mike Flynn

So the new resources that kicked in in FY27 in July, so we've been in that process basically of staffing up, of

Mike Flynn

expanding capacity of different mechanisms for implementing things that we need to do, and that's all pretty far along in progress.

Shaun Abreu

That's great.
