Council Member Hanif asks DOT about micro hub pilot on Wyckoff
Council Member Hanif asks about a micro hub on Wyckoff Avenue near her district office that is causing double parking and constituent complaints. DOT says it is not officially part of the pilot but will look into it, explaining that micro hubs offer dedicated curb space in exchange for no double parking, with space removed if companies violate the agreement.
Thank you.
So this is about the micro hubs.
I'm really pleased to learn about this pilot.
In my district, and I don't know if this is official, but on Wyckoff between Bond and Hoyt, right near my district office, there has been...
A hub, I'm not sure if it's official, would like to know what we can do to
either make that a part of the pilot, but I'm getting a lot of constituent complaints given that the truck, I mean, it seems like it's a subcontractor parked, double parked, and they're doing the deliveries, and it's caused a lot of pain.
In the obvious residential neighborhood.
Sure, and I don't believe that that's officially part of the program, so we're happy to take a look and talk to you about it.
That would be great.
And the idea behind it is that we offer something in terms of dedicated space at the curb to a company, and in doing that, they have to commit that they are not going to be double parking or driving around the neighborhood or doing these other bad behaviors.
And if we see them doing that, the idea is we take that space away.
So we've done it a handful of places now.
It's seemed to be effective.
It has been across the city.
I'd love to bump us up to the top because there's a ton of deliveries happening.
And I've been in touch with Brooklyn Borough Commissioner Bray on this, but it's still unclear to me what the problem is.
process is and if I think we've requested for a designated loading zone but it seems like this pilot is actually the solve.
Sure yeah well we and Commissioner Ray will talk to you more about that.
Okay I appreciate it.
Thank you.
Thank you, Councilmember Hanif.
