Gustavo Ajche supports Intro 613 and invites officials to ride along
Gustavo Ajche, co-founder of Los Deliveristas Unidos with the Workers Justice Project, says the street is delivery workers' workplace and they risk their lives daily. He calls for protected bike lanes, parking, charging stations, and rest areas and invites officials to spend a full shift with delivery workers.
Good afternoon.
Mayor, thanks for the opportunity to testify.
My name is Gustavo Ache, co-founder of the Libristas Unidos with the Worker Justice Project.
And we are here today to show support to the intro 0613 for New Yorker delivery workers.
The street is our workplace.
And every day we deliver food, medicine, and essential goods.
So we are putting our life in risk every day.
So we need more protecting bike lines, more parking space for our bikes and charging stations.
So where we can rest, so where we can work with dignity.
So we need solutions that prioritize infrastructure and instead policing and ticketing immigrant workers in the street as police doing now.
So we, as Ligia and Yadira, they just said, we inviting you to spend the whole day with some delivery workers because sometimes
A lot of politics, they spend just one ride, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, not enough to see in first hand what is the daily life of the delivery workers.
So we're inviting you to stay with us for a whole shift.
That's what we're looking for.
I will join you for some.
Time.
So we're looking forward to work together with you.
So as a delivery workers and organizer, we know in first hand how it's been in the street every day.
So thank you for the time.
Thank you, Gustavo.
