Ossé asks about HVAC inspections at OACs
Ossé asks how many HVAC inspections NYCHA conducts at older adult centers, especially in his district, and how often. Trimble says NYCHA does not conduct HVAC inspections; HVAC is mostly the provider's responsibility. McKenzie adds that NYC Aging performs pre-tests before cooling and heating seasons and has not identified issues preventing heat this winter.
But I did want to ask, because we are going into a cold winter, maybe hopefully not as cold as as last year.
I wanted to ask how many.
of HVAC inspections NYCHA is doing across the board, but mostly within our older adult centers on the grounds of my district.
How often are those inspections taking place?
We do not conduct HVAC inspections.
The HVAC is the responsibility of the provider for the most part.
There are some instances where NYCHA would be involved, but for the most part, the HVAC system is the responsibility of the provider.
And does NYCHA provide any oversight over the providers?
No, the providers are contracted by New York City.
Okay.
But at New York City Aging, we do perform pre-tests before cooling season and before heating season to assess if there are any issues that would prevent us from providing heat for the winter.
We're in that process right now, and we have not been made aware of any projects or needs that would keep us from providing heat at our sites.
