Restler asks about Brooklyn BP $6M allocations and lack of updates
Restler says Brooklyn Borough President allocated $6 million in FY24 for upgrades to older adult centers, primarily on NYCHA campuses, but has received no updates. He asks if it is standard to have no updates two years later. Fradkin says that is not standard and asks for the specific list to look into it. Restler says he will provide it and expects updates this week.
Great.
So I'm fortunate to have a great borough president in Brooklyn, the best borough president in the best borough.
Sorry, Gail.
And he allocated $6 million in FY24 for upgrades to older adult centers, primarily on NYCHA campuses.
But he's got no information, no updates on the timeline for those projects.
Is that standard practice two years later to not have updates on capital allocations that are made to NYCHA older adult centers?
That is not standard practice.
If you could share the specific list of allocations, we can definitely look at that.
Sometimes there is insufficient funding that has been allocated to address the needs at a center.
And so in that case, we might be working with the borough president.
or city council member to ensure that there is the full amount of funding available before we actually accept the funding and move forward with initiating a project.
Okay.
I mean, I'll just be clear in going back and forth with him, his budget director, his senior staff.
They've had no communication or updates from NYCHA on this.
So if there's a funding gap, it'd be news to them.
But we're happy to hear that you will be moving forward on them and that you'll be providing updates to the Borough President's Office this week on those projects.
So thank you very much for your willingness to work with us on the follow-ups.
Those cover my questions for today.
I want to thank everybody.
Thank both agencies for their hard work here.
I know that this is not an easy topic.
And I want to congratulate the rat, Zarina, for landing on her feet.
And it's always good to see Brian Honan.
So thank you all.
Thank you.
Please send the list to us also.
Thank you.
And also, we have Council Member Chioze.
