Zhuang asks about security protocols at NYCHA OACs
Zhuang asks what security protocols protect older adults at OACs on NYCHA property. Trimble says NYCHA does not provide security at OACs. McKenzie says most sites collaborate with NYPD for patrols and use door locking mechanisms, intercoms, or swipe systems. Staff receive training and communicate with NYPD about neighborhood issues.
And I give recent concerns about safety at some nature property.
What security protocol are in place to protect other adults at?
Those OACs.
NITRA does not provide security at the OACs.
So for our sites, most of them we are in collaboration with NYPD for patrols of those areas.
In addition to most of our centers are secured by some type of door locking mechanism, whether it's intercom system or it's door swipes, to ensure that we're just not allowing everyone in without someone
being aware of who's coming into the center.
So we look at different security precautions.
We do have training for our staff.
We also speak to them about some of the issues in the neighborhood.
Obviously, our older adults will let us know if there are issues in the neighborhood, and we would collaborate with NYPD.
Yes, NYPD has, each person has a person signed for senior issues?
No, but they have a community affairs division that would allow us to have patrols of those particular sites that might have some issues.
