Chair Brooks-Powers thanks staff and stakeholders
Brooks-Powers thanks committee staff and her own staff, then says she looks forward to discussion with CHS, DOC, Board of Correction, advocates, and stakeholders. She turns the floor back to Chair Farías.
I would like to thank my staff and committee staff for their hard work, Jahari Frazier, counsel to the committee, Chad Benjamin, policy analyst, Casey Lasky, financial analyst, Owen Brady, my policy and budget director, and Renee Taylor, my chief of staff.
I look forward to a productive discussion with the Correctional Health Services, the Department of Correction, the Board of Correction, advocates, and other stakeholders about the care available to pregnant and postpartum people in custody,
the challenges they continue to face, and the steps needed to ensure that their medical and mental health needs are appropriately addressed.
