Council Member Narcisse asks about labor transport time and steps
Narcisse asks how long it takes to transport a woman in labor from Rosie's to the hospital. BOC says it will follow up with CHS and notes CHS testified patients are transported to Elmhurst; Narcisse stresses risks of delay.
When a woman goes into labor, at Ruth Sanger, how long does it take from the time they're in labor to get to hospital?
And what are the steps?
In terms of the time it takes, that's something we will have to follow up on with CHS.
That's information that they have, and we will need to receive consent from the person in custody to be able to access that particular information.
But as we heard earlier from CHS, the mother of the person is transported to Elmhurst Hospital to give birth.
I do just want to clarify for Councilman Bernarcees, we are in front of the Board of Correction.
I know.
I know.
I'm getting to it.
I know very well.
We can take them directly to the CHS and DOC.
I got you.
I got you.
But the reason I'm saying, because they're there to work, because in the statement you made, you work very closely.
So I'm assuming that you know you have a great partnership.
And those are the important steps.
Because what I'm leading to as being a nurse is because the time that you take from that person to have labor, if we're not addressing it, it becomes complex.
You can lose a baby.
So that's where I'm going with you, Madam Chair.
So that's where, so if it's complex, if it's complex, you can lose that baby during the process.
Because I deal with high-risk pregnancy, and I know the importance of it when the time the person in labor and what are the steps, the paperwork before you can get that person to a hospital.
So I'm leaving it as that.
So thank you.
So just observe for that because that can be a complication.
Thank you.
