Chair Hudson asks about FY27 security budget breakdown and funding sources
Hudson asks how the FY27 amount was determined and funding sources. Priester says most is city tax, PS lines, contracted security, equipment, and body-worn camera contracts; DHS will provide a breakdown.
Our numbers are quite different.
So why don't we...
Well, why don't you give me the numbers that you have?
The number we have is for DHS peace officers is 18 million and contracted security is 40.8 million.
So that's very different than, so it must be counting perhaps across DSS and we're answering for DHS here.
Yes.
Okay.
Peace officers.
But we're happy to clarify as needed.
Yes, that could be an error on my part.
Okay.
Well, I would love to know.
Do you have the total security budget for fiscal 2027?
Were those the numbers for 26?
Those are for 27, for FY27.
Okay.
So I would love to also know the numbers for FY26, if and when you have those.
Okay.
We don't have those here, but we can give you a bit of a trend.
Okay.
And then this number for FY27, how was that amount determined?
And what are the funding sources?
You want to answer?
Valvunch Priester, Deputy Commissioner for the AHS Shelter Security Management.
So these amounts are determined.
I can't truly identify all of the funding sources.
Most of it is city tax.
This is PS lines and our contracted security along with just the amount of funding that we receive around equipment and our contracts.
Okay, great.
Thank you.
And what expenditures are included within the security budget?
If you have a funding breakdown, so you mentioned equipment, contract and security, peace officers.
Peace officers, absolutely.
We have body-worn cameras, so our evidence.com contract and any of our other equipment contracts, and we can provide that breakdown.
Okay.
It would be great if you all can follow up with that.
Absolutely.
Thank you.
