Chair Hudson questions DHS on medical devices and medication storage
Hudson asks how DHS supports CPAP machines, oxygen tanks, and refrigerated medication. Fellini says DHS ensures appropriate outlets, access control, and provides refrigeration or mini fridges.
How does DHS support people who require medical devices, including mobility aids and items that require electricity or batteries like CPAP machines, personal ECG or EKG monitors, oxygen tanks, and diabetes monitors?
How do you assist people in keeping these items safe and functional?
Yeah, I think in the same way that Deputy Commissioner Priester shared, making sure that these, first of all, that these devices, that we're aware of them,
especially for things that need to be plugged in, that they're in an appropriate outlet, and that if they are not on the person, that we're making sure we're keeping eyes
and ensuring also, I think, through access control, making sure that people are coming in and out only with their belongings.
And what about medications that require refrigerators or refrigeration?
Excuse me.
We provide refrigeration.
Clients can, especially in family and adult family shelters, have access to mini fridges.
Same can, we will store for single adults medication that requires refrigeration.
Okay, thank you.
