Council Member Aviles questions DHS on whistleblower policies
Aviles asks how whistleblower policies are communicated to staff and subcontractors and how many complaints there have been. Dalton says she does not have the information and will follow up.
Councilor Brewer-Viles.
Thank you.
Just along the lines of employee conditions and whistleblowing, can you tell us how whistleblower policies are communicated to staff and also subcontractors?
And then if you have any data on how many complaints you've had.
No, I think it's a really important issue, and I think we may have gotten guidance on the last set of questions that surrounds this.
So I might let the deputy commissioner add with that.
I don't have that information with me.
And if we aren't communicating it well, I'll make sure that we are.
I do very much want the people who are on the front lines of our systems to both feel like they can and need to
best support the people that they're trying to serve in New York and have protections in order to make that happen.
So I'm certain that those exist, but let me get back to you on what exists, how we're communicating it, and the numbers of people reporting.
