Aldebol asks about Jacobi capacity and Bronx unemployment
Aldebol asks about capacity at Jacobi Hospital in her Bronx district, noting the borough's 7.1% unemployment rate and concerns about Medicaid work requirements. Long agrees capacity must be built.
How many, what's the capacity at Jacoby Hospital, which is in my district in the Bronx?
And has that number changed and do you anticipate that number changing?
And I ask that question because Bronx has the highest unemployment rate in the entire city at 7.1% right now.
Yeah.
And compared to...
Four or five percent in other parts of the city.
So
And looking ahead to, you know, the employment requirements now with Medicaid, we're going to have a lot of people in the Bronx losing coverage.
And that's a great concern of mine, particularly for hospitals like Jacobi, North Central Bronx, all the public hospitals in New York City.
We need to build capacity there.
