Long on hiring care teams and the HART program
Long says H&H needs to hire up care teams, emphasizing nurses as equally important as doctors, and to fill gaps at each site so financial counselors and clinical pharmacists are ready. He calls this his goal for the next couple months.
Yeah, I know it's going to be a roller coaster.
But again, we can see the roller coaster starting, you know, six months down the line.
And this is the time where we need to get ready for it as a city.
And I also want to say, you know, the city's taking a lot of other activities, too.
So DOHMH recently announced the new heart teams.
I think that's a great way to also go into our communities, see who needs help, connect people to care, see if they're eligible for insurance, things like that.
I think we need to fire on all cylinders to solve the overall problem of just this fluctuations, uncertainty, and again, going back to what you said, coverage disruptions.
So to answer your question about what we could do to build capacity between now and then, I think we need to make sure that we're hiring up as much as we can.
It's very, very important to us, and you can let me know if you agree with this, that we need to put equal importance on the care teams, meaning our nurses, as with our doctors.
We need to make sure that we're hiring the whole care team because that's the secret ingredient to achieving all the health outcomes that we talked about here.
So those are big areas of focus for us.
you know, in the next, I would say, several months is to make sure that we're going through with each of our sites to make sure we have the care teams, hire up any gaps that we have so that we can say
as we start to, as our patients start to feel this happening, we have the financial counselors that are reaching out that need to reach out.
We have enough, you know, clinical pharmacists so that for our patients with diabetes, we can make sure they're getting through the right, most effective team member, things like that.
That's my goal for the next couple months.
I can see an advertisement for that.
Like, you know, as they drop you the insurance, NYC Care, we're catching you.
Yeah, I love that.
