Long on Maimonides financial plan and keeping patients on Medicaid
Long acknowledges the concern, noting the Maimonides financial plan relies on enhanced Medicaid rates that only work if patients stay on Medicaid. He says NYC Care is only half the equation and H&H will focus on keeping people insured, promising written follow-up.
No, I appreciate that.
Maybe I can answer a couple of your questions here, and then we can get back to you in writing with the rest.
Yeah, sure.
Because I think you bring up a very, very legitimate concern.
Which is a lot of the basis for the health and hospitals, but also with the integration of Maimonides, the financial plan is based on the average commercial rates, which would be the enhanced Medicaid rates.
But that's only going to work if people stay on Medicaid.
So I think that is a very, very legitimate and extremely important point.
As it pertains to what we've talked about here today in NYC Care, I think I want to emphasize one of the things I said earlier, and then we'll get back to you in writing about the rest.
While NYC Care is very, very important and has made a tremendous difference for our patients, it's half the equation as we're seeking to fight back against all these changes coming up.
The other half is how can we keep people on the insurance plans that they were on before?
And that's where I think with the joining together of Maimonides, we have to make sure that we have plans that are very carefully curated to meet the needs of the patients of Maimonides.
The good news is, I think with what we've seen in EP5 so far in our approach with financial counselors, we've seen that we can be effective.
But it's not a done deal.
I mean, this is going to be that crisis we can see coming, you know, six months down the line here.
So you can count on us having a laser focus on keeping people on Medicaid because I couldn't agree with you more about that.
And for some of the details about the process for that, how that pertains to the financial plan, things like that, we can get back to you in writing.
