Narcisse offers Council and churches as outreach partners
Narcisse offers the 51 Council members and churches as outreach partners, noting many uninsured residents may be reached through houses of worship. Jimenez and Long welcome invitations to constituent-facing events and ask members to share their communities' needs.
And I think we can be a source of partnership, 51 of us, and as well as the churches.
We know that when you go to church, you get people.
So on Sunday morning or Saturday, we can get more.
So keep on promoting it throughout because most of the folks that we will find uninsured, a lot of them may end up in churches that you're not going to see on the street or other places.
I'm glad you mentioned that.
We'd love to be at every single event that you all have.
Constituent facing because agreed we never know when we're going to encounter someone
who doesn't have a primary care doctor.
And it may be even a friend of someone who doesn't have a primary care doctor, but finding out about NYC Care is crucial, and we want to be everywhere that we can.
And to make that offer concrete, if there are events or places where you think we should go, you know your community is better than we do.
Let us know.
We have teams and community-based organizations that we talked about that we can have go to the events to talk to people, to enroll people.
So I think, again, now people are in more questions than ever.
Given everything going on with Medicaid.
So use us.
We want to be there with you.
That's the reason I'm talking about it like this, because I know with whatever going on in the city of New York from the federal, we're paying the price in New York City.
So we have to be very smart around it and trying to get our brothers and sisters, the new arrivals out there, help them out.
Absolutely.
And we see, I mean, we lived it from COVID that diseases, infectious diseases is not in a bubble.
It can spread to every one of us and we all can be affected.
So the more we align with that, knowing that we're all in it together, the better we'll do.
Definitely.
