Brewer asks whether community media definition should change for influencers
Brewer notes some community media figures may also be influencers and asks how Sidahmed is thinking about the definition. Sidahmed says he wants agencies to understand that community publications serve their communication goals.
was in 2021, is there any change in the definition of what a community and media outlet is?
Or is that something you're going to kind of stick to?
Because some of these media and community folks are probably influencers and a community and media outlet.
Who knows?
So I'm just wondering, again,
I'm coming back to this definition is perhaps different than it was in 2021.
And how will you be looking at that?
Not to say that you're going to make a final decision, but how are you thinking about that?
I appreciate that question, Cher.
So I think really, as I've mentioned, my focus is trying to increase the amount that the agencies are spending with the publications in the citywide marketing directory.
So that in-scope number, whatever it might be, however we want to slice it, I really want to ensure that publishers feel like they're getting their fair share and that they're able to continue to
grow their publications and do the critical job of journalism that they're doing in the city.
So I think that that's really my focus and helping the agencies understand the value of working with these publications, that this isn't something you just have to do because of the local law.
No, this serves your interests.
This is critical to you to actually execute on your vision for what you want to accomplish with your agency and your marketing communication goals.
