Brewer asks why outlets were removed from mayor's press list
Brewer says some directory outlets were dropped from the mayor's press list and asks why. Sidahmed refers press-list questions to the press office and says paid media should be kept separate from coverage decisions.
Okay.
We also heard that some of the media outlets that are on the list currently have gotten off the mayor's press list.
Do you know if that's true, and if so, do you?
Can you explain why they've been taken off the mayor's press list?
Because you're in that agency now.
You're in the communications agency.
Absolutely.
I'd encourage you to direct questions about the press list to the press office specifically.
I do think it's really important for us as we're thinking about the future of the mayor's office of ethnic and community media to separate press coverage from paid media.
Because I know that some folks in the past have thought that the two things were connected and it created a sense that your press coverage may be influenced what kind of paid media you receive.
So I don't want to create that impression at all.
So I'd really like to focus specifically on paid media.
I understand that.
Okay, good.
That comes up when the mayor had his early on influencer only press briefing.
And then, of course, it was quite startling that some of the ethnic and community medias were not invited.
So you're saying that that's not what your job is, that that's a completely different aspect of the office that you're under.
Correct.
Okay.
