Chair Lee Questions DYCD on Contractual Service Reductions
Chair Linda Lee asks about the $107.6 million reduction in community development programs and whether these funds were shifted to other areas of the DYCD portfolio.
Thank you again for the opportunity to discuss the fiscal 2027 executive budget, and we're looking forward to answering any questions you may have.
Great, thank you.
We've also been joined by Councilmember Brooks Powers.
And I'm just gonna dive right.
Uh Councilmember Wong.
Oh, wait, I think I said it the first time, sorry.
Um, Councilmember Felder.
For the second such a riot.
Okay.
Um I'm gonna just dive right in so I can pass it off to my colleagues.
Um for DYCD's FY27 budget um in the executive plan.
Uh, when comparing FY27 budget in the executive plan to FY26 adopted budget, we see that there's a reduction of 107.6 million in community development pro to community development programs, of which 103.9 million is contractual services.
So, why is there a reduction in contractual services for community development programs?
And also uh what is the reason for the reduction of 1.6 million in full-time salary positions?
Good morning, Chair Lee.
Nice to see you.
Nice to see you.
So the original reduction that you're referencing regarding um is within the city portfolio, and that's adult literacy, and that may be attributed to the one-time funding that we get annually for their portfolio, the restoration.
Okay, so uh and then was the funding moved to other programs?
No, because it's a one-time restoration that we typically get from the council for the C portfolio.
Yeah, okay, got it.
