Chair Stevens Questions Location of Additional COMPASS Slots
Chair Althea Stevens asks how DYCD will determine the location of the 5,000 additional COMPASS slots planned for fall 2027 and their impact on existing programs.

Um, so according to the APS School Expansion Plan, 5,000 additional compass slots will be added in fall 2027 or fiscal 2028, in addition to the slots are in this RFP.
How will you determine where those slots will be located?
What is the timeline to determining providers and beginning those slots?
Yeah, we're in the process of making strategic decisions about how to leverage that those slots, specifically to continue to stabilize the ecosystem and strengthening it as well.
Will there be an impact on providers who are currently providing after school program services?
So thinking about as you're thinking about those expansions and even thinking about some of the mitigating factors now, how are we looking to leverage some of the losses that we have now, like moving forward?
Is there going to be another RFP?
Like, what does that look like?
I would say in way we are gonna move in ways that honor the current procurement uh process, but also that we are gonna be opportunistic about ways to leverage um uh the current slots or the future slots in ways that help to mitigate some of the impact.
