Council Member Restler Questions Threshold Scores and Charter Schools
Council Member Lincoln Restler asks about the threshold scores used to determine provider viability and questions the inclusion of charter schools in the COMPASS RFP.
I appreciate it.
I uh you know, from our conversation, previous conversation, Commissioner, you had explained that there was a threshold level that if organizations did above, then you could try to figure out a path to work with them because they scored well enough on the on the thing.
And if they scored below that threshold level, then your hands are kind of tied because they didn't, you know, and you have an object objective, subjective, whatever word we wanna use.
You have a process, it was determined.
Um that's what I'm speaking to in my question.
Is that on some locations they didn't score above that?
I'm just using this as an example, but there are other providers, and I you know was on a tour this morning of one site with a city agency assistant commissioner who wanted me to ask questions about their school.
So everyone in Manhattan Youth, if Virginia's still here, um, but uh everybody's concerned about I think a similar thing.
I just am using this as an example that this organization scores above the threshold, you know, here doesn't across the street, it's confusing.
And so I I can I ask one more question, or you gonna kill me?
Um I can't do round two, but I it's okay.
I will text you the question.
It's about charter schools getting selected for the Compass RFP, and that is what I'm concerned about.
But I will save that for out the Chair Stevens will ask it in a much more effective way.
Okay, Councilmember Sylvina Brooks Powers, followed by Councilmember Brewer.
