Brewer Asks Rauh and Foss About Staff Salary Issue

New York City Council · Jul 7, 2026 · starts 0:35:53 · 31 sec

Brewer raises staff salaries again. Foss agrees it's important but outside the commission's purview, noting her own experience as a former legislative staffer.

Gale A. Brewer

We still have the question of staff.

Gale A. Brewer

I don't, Carl Weisberg said correctly that it was looked at, but not appropriate.

Gale A. Brewer

Just wondering, do you think also on the staff issue, that's a different topic or could have been something that was discussed?

Member of the Public - Rachel Foss

Perhaps it couldn't have been officially recommended, but maybe it's a discussion point.

Member of the Public - Rachel Foss

But I think we certainly support staff salary increases.

Member of the Public - Rachel Foss

As a former legislative staffer myself, I feel that personally.

Member of the Public - Rachel Foss

So I would agree.

Member of the Public - Rachel Foss

Yeah.
