And what role do you think the City Council should play in overseeing the Board of Health?
I see the relationship between the Board of Health and City Council as a particularly important one.
City Council, of course, represents
the people of New York City as well.
And so when it comes to policies that should be identified, there are avenues that City Council, of course, has purview
over itself, but there may be ways in which the health code ought to be amended to be responsive to
public priorities.
And so in those cases, the city council and the board of health should communicate and work together with respect to any changes to the health code.
