Chair Ung Q&A: Garcia on improving collection tools while preserving housing
Ung asks how the land bank can improve on past tools for revenue collection and housing preservation. Garcia emphasizes community outreach and engagement as key to designing a better process.
And how do you think the land bank can improve upon the city's past and current use of available tools to collect revenues while preserving existing housing and creating new housing?
Yeah, so I think that one thing, as I mentioned, the land bank does have those opportunities and flexibility.
I wouldn't want to prejudge what the final outcome would be.
But again, if you think of the remit from this legislation to the land bank directors, it would really be to think of what are the concerns of the community?
How do we respond to the concerns with the past processes and create a new processes that meets the moment of, again, the equity, accountability, transparency?
So in designing it, community.
outreach and engagement will be paramount to get us to that place.
