Restler questions why Bronx PSAC 2 was impacted and not Brooklyn

New York City Council · Sep 9, 2026 · starts 2:18:15 · 57 sec

Restler asks why the Bronx location was affected. Gelobter explains Motorola pushed firmware to PSAC 2 firewalls deliberately, as PSAC 2 gets less traffic than PSAC 1, and rolling out one center at a time ensures the other remains unaffected. Call takers at both centers handled calls throughout.

Lincoln Restler

And why did this impact the Bronx location and not downtown Brooklyn?

Lisa Gelobter

Thank you for the question, Council Member.

Lisa Gelobter

To be clear,

Lisa Gelobter

Each of the PSACs has different components.

Lisa Gelobter

They both have a routing system, so hardware.

Lisa Gelobter

They also have people, call takers.

Lisa Gelobter

So when Motorola did the original push of the firmware to the production systems, they were to the firewalls in the routing environment at PSAC 2.

Lisa Gelobter

It was a conscious decision.

Lisa Gelobter

PSAC 2 gets less traffic than PSAC 1.

Lisa Gelobter

So when you do a rollout, you want to roll out one center at a time to make sure that the other one is unaffected.

Lincoln Restler

So that was a deliberate effort to make sure that both centers would not potentially be impacted if there was an issue.

Lincoln Restler

Correct.

Lincoln Restler

Helpful.

Lincoln Restler

Thank you.

Lisa Gelobter

Call takers at both centers were able to handle calls throughout the...

Lincoln Restler

Yes, understood.

Lincoln Restler

Okay.
