Riley questions lack of notification to council members about outage
Riley notes he learned about the outage from a news reporter, not from the administration. He asks if there's a protocol to alert council members so they can help navigate calls. Gelobter appreciates the question and says they will explore notifying appropriate stakeholders as part of their protocol review, and Riley urges them to utilize council members as partners.
I found out about this outage from a news reporter.
Typically when 911 calls aren't being answered, I don't know about everyone else's district, but I'm pretty sure people contact our offices after and we weren't really notified about this.
Is there any protocol that the administration has moving forward that will alert members that these incidents are taking place so we could kind of figure out some ways that we can navigate some of these calls, if not all of these calls to the proper agencies that they belong to?
Thank you, Council Member.
I really appreciate that question.
And as we are thinking about the protocols for notifications, the criteria, and then also who should be notified,
I think that that is something that we should explore further, and we will definitely circle back with you on how we can make that most effective.
And utilize us as partners, because we definitely want to make sure that we're addressing this with you guys.
Thank you so much for testifying, and thank you, Chair.
Thank you, Councilmember Riley.
Councilmember Lincoln to close out first round, and then we'll go to Chair Felice for second round.
