Sanchez questions 911 system management and governance structure

New York City Council · Sep 9, 2026 · starts 1:00:21 · 55 sec

Council Member Sanchez asks about reports of mismanagement and too many players involved. Gelobter explains the PSAC steering committee comprises NYPD, FDNY, OTI, with DCAS, OMB, and Cyber Command also participating. She agrees the governance structure, processes, and policies need closer examination.

Justin E. Sanchez

Final question on the management.

Justin E. Sanchez

So there's been a lot of reports on the mismanagement of the 911 call system.

Justin E. Sanchez

There's been reports basically saying that there's too many players involved.

Justin E. Sanchez

Who's involved in the managing of the 911 system and do you think mismanagement is a problem and are there any ways to better improve the system?

Lisa Gelobter

Yeah, so PSAC has a steering committee which governs it, and that is comprised of NYPD, FDNY, OTI.

Lisa Gelobter

There are also some other participants like DCAS and OMB, as well as cyber.

Lisa Gelobter

I think we need to take a closer look at the governance structure and process and procedures and policies across the board.

Lisa Gelobter

So we need to take a closer look at all of those things.
