Caban on hearing goals: accountability and action
Caban calls for accountability and action, asking agencies to share what is working and what is not, and asking veterans and families to share where the system failed them. She thanks staff and turns the mic back to Morano.
And we don't intend this hearing to be a ceremonial exercise in a pre-
to our city's veterans.
We intend to produce accountability and action.
We want to hear from city agencies about what's working and more importantly about what's not and why.
And we want to hear directly from veterans and families about where the system failed them or simply wasn't there when they needed it the most.
So I want to thank the administration for being here, Chair Murano and my colleagues for their engagement, the advocates, veteran service organizations, families joining us, including those from my own district in Queens.
And I want to acknowledge that for some in this room, today's testimony may touch on painful or personal experiences.
We're grateful for your willingness to share them in service of a system that should serve you better.
And, you know, thank you to all of the staff involved.
There's actually a lot of overlap in our committee staff and just appreciate the work that y'all do.
And with that, I'm going to turn the mic back to Chair Murano.
Thank you.
Thank you, Chair Kamon.
