Caban Q&A: Dwyer program participation and outcome tracking
Caban asks how many veterans participated in Dwyer programs, how many responded to surveys, and whether participation leads to sustained improvements. Orlando reports over 1,800 participants, with 62% veterans, and says the next iteration will collect more aftercare follow-up data.
Just to go back to the Dwyer program, Commissioner, you indicated that the Dwyer program participant surveys show strong satisfaction.
So that's an example.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
And as an agency, as we continue having many roundtables at DVS, I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps that this is one of the first times when the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
And anecdotally, that's certainly been my observation.
Commissioner, those survey results sound encouraging.
So that's an example.

How many veterans participated in the programs?
How many responded to the survey?

And do you track whether participation leads to sustained improvements in well-being or successful referrals to clinical care?
So that's an example.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
Thank you for that question.
So throughout the life cycle of the last Dwyer funding, we've seen over 1,800 participants.
And as an agency, as we continue having many roundtables at DVS, I've heard from many veteran groups that perhaps that this is one of the first times when the agency itself has really engaged many of the groups.
This is not accounting for those that maybe have attended multiple Dwyer programs or have returned and came back.
So that's an example.
What we're also seeing is that 62% of those program participants, because this is open to veterans and their families, have been veterans.
So at DVS, we are meeting with our providers to hear from them directly to let us know what has been working, what hasn't been working.
And what we are working on for this next iteration of Dwyer is collecting more data on what that

aftercare follow-up looks like.
So that's an example.

All right.
