Dinowitz urges DOE to rely on internal expertise over private vendors
Dinowitz says DOE has a wealth of internal expertise through affinity networks, consortium schools, internationals, and the UFT Teacher Center. He warns against expensive private vendor contracts for training.
A supplement to your feedback.
And on the topic of the budget, the issue of cost savings, one of the things we're looking at in this,
council are certain contracts, where a lot of the contracts go to the private companies.
And I would just tell you, as you've noted numerous times during this hearing and in our private conversations outside of these hearings, we have a wealth of knowledge in our city.
We have the Affinity Network, we have the consortium schools, the internationals, all of these schools, these teachers, these administrators,
Together, we have a U of T teacher center.
We don't really need to go outside to private vendors and pay them exorbitant fees to teach teachers and principals things we probably already know internally.
And so what I don't want to see is as these years come up, find, you know, a hundred million dollar contract for some private company.
When we could do it much more efficiently, much less money, and much higher quality by leaning on our educators that we have currently in the system.
I'm going to turn it over to Councilmember Wong after...
Councilmember Wong.
