Wong asks what guidance counselors have received on programming students toward seals

Okay.

Committee staff have learned from school leaders that counselors do not know how to program students towards SEALs under the new structure.

So what guidance has DOE issued to school counselors, and when will more be issued?

Yeah, so we already have guidance in our academic policy resources and other materials that we provide to participating schools about what those programs are.

requirements are for schools who offer those options.

So just to be clear, there's no, per the September Board of Regents update, there's no new seals yet.

If the state decides to create new seals, we would then turn key that guidance to our school leaders, our counselors through citywide guidance.
