Chair Hudson asks about landlord portal bill lead time
Hudson asks how much additional time DSS needs to implement the landlord portal bill's January 2027 requirements. Scott French says specific timelines can follow, but enhancements are underway and some will roll out in the first quarter of 2027.
And then...
With the pre-considered introduction from Councilmember Murano, you mentioned...
Additional lead time that you think would be needed in order to accomplish what he's setting out to do by January of 2027.
How much time do you anticipate?
Needing in order to be ready?
I think we can come back with specifics.
I think there are things that will roll in over time.
So we are actively, right, we have systems already that we utilize that engage and support landlords, right, and property owners from our sort of
current system, which is the main system that manages all of the city FAPS packaging, our offer system where units are looked at for habitability and approvals,
as well as our landlord portal system, which is a way for landlords to have more insight into their payments and also receive electronic fund payments.
We are in active sort of enhancements on all of those systems right now.
Many of those enhancements actually speak to what's in the council members bill.
We can come back with specifics as to when we see different pieces of this starting to roll out with something like this.
It's often over.
many, many months because you try to sort of design it so you're releasing along the way rather than waiting till the end.
But we will start to see.
additional enhancements in the first quarter of 2027.
And then periodically along that line, we can follow up with a more specific timeline and the sort of markers we think we're going to hit as it regards to the things outlined in the council members bill.
Okay, great.
Thank you.
