Morano asks whether DSS is unifying landlord-facing technology systems
Morano asks if DSS is developing systems with one unified strategy or building new solutions piecemeal. Scott French says the systems grew up separately but are now being interfaced and unified toward a single entry point; Morano presses for a committed date, and Dalton says DSS will follow up.
I guess my motivation behind the legislation is...
And it's kind of a combination question and comment, are we developing these systems with one unified strategy?
Or are we building a new technological solution every time we discover another administrative problem?
So I'll jump in there.
I think these systems grew up in response to specific aspects of the process, right?
But I think, as I had mentioned before and what we've talked about, right, this next technological enhancement is about now interfacing and unifying those systems so that we can get to a single entry point for individuals.
You know but as our systems and processes developed over time right certain aspects of these say the inspection aspect was developing along a certain time frame and the technology was needed there while the city FEPS
sort of package processing was being developed in another way but we've acknowledged and sort of see
We now need to bring all of those together, which is why, you know, the capital projects we currently have on hand are really moving towards that.
And we can follow up with specifics as to, you know, how we see that working for the benefit of landlords, providers and everybody moving forward as sort of a.
Singular system one has to deal with.
Chair, may I ask one more question or should I wait to...
Only one more.
One more, yes.
So, Commissioner, you said in your testimony that the January 27 deadline in my bill isn't feasible and that you need significant additional lead time, and I appreciate you being candid about that.
But this isn't a request to build a spaceship.
We're talking about uploading documents.
tracking payments and resolving complaints and functions that exist in other online services.
So let me ask you as straightforward as possible, what date can you commit to?
I don't have a date for you.
We are happy to get back to you with specific timelines.
I think we share the goal of the legislation you've introduced.
We do want to provide excellent customer service to the landlords and property managers we're working with.
Many aspects of the system are already underway, as Administrator French said, and we've probably testified to.
Some documents can be uploaded.
We're working on additional, and we just have to lay out the IT infrastructure.
If you could get back to me with a date certain, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you.
Yeah.
