Aldebol asks about Ambassador Program events and applications
Aldebol notes the increase from 48 to 178 events; Otar clarifies it was 95 in FY24 and says they use targeted outreach but can't directly tie events to applications.
So on the Civil Service Ambassador Program, in fiscal year 2025, DCAS conducted 178 outreach events that met the Civil Service Ambassador Program requirements,
which is a huge leap from 48 events that were held in fiscal year 2024.
Have you noticed an increase in applications or attendance at hiring halls or career fairs that corresponds with this increase in outreach events?
Thank you.
I love this part because I'm excited to speak about the great work that the team does to engage the community.
And so within the Career Pathways team, we try to look at what the needs of the agencies and the needs of the city and where we need to really make more impact and do outreach.
So for fiscal year 2025, we're really focused on increasing our presence across the five boroughs and also working with our educational institutions, both with high schools and colleges.
I do want to clarify that we had 95 qualifying events in fiscal year 24, not 48.
But we are trying to use more targeted outreach.
You know, we are trying to use more targeted outreach to engage the communities and making sure that we are reaching the larger groups.
From every year, we evaluate how we do outreach.
Sometimes we have to figure out, are there a combination of events that we can have?
Are there different types of events that we can have that will reach a larger population or a larger group, but the same population that we're trying to target throughout the Civil Service Ambassador Program?
And so because of the nature of the program, because of the nature of the communities that we're reaching, we may be speaking to somebody that's in high school that may not be ready to apply for an exam.
It's hard to specifically tie in an increase in application to an increase in the event that we did for that same year.
