Aldebol asks about juvenile justice and foster care events
Aldebol asks about measurable interest at these locations; Otar says there is interest, especially from justice-impacted individuals who didn't know they could work for the city.
In the 2025 fiscal year, DCAS significantly expanded the locations and settings that Civil Service Ambassador Program events were held in.
As part of this expansion, there were events held at locations that DCAS had not reached in the past, such as juvenile justice facilities and foster care programs.
Was there a measurable interest in the materials that DCAS was distributing at these locations?
And are you able to share if there are any individuals who submitted applications, if there are any individuals from these groups who submitted applications for civil service exams following these events?
I'm sorry, Chair.
Can you repeat that question?
And maybe a little bit louder.
I'm hard of hearing.
Yeah.
Was there...
Was there measurable interest in the materials that DCAS was distributing at these locations, such as juvenile justice centers, juvenile justice facilities, and foster care programs?
Yes.
I think one of the great things that we see is whenever we go out there to speak to just anyone in the community, it's always like, oh, I didn't know.
Right.
Oh, there's an option that's available to us here.
Especially when we engage with the justice impacted individuals, there's this misconception that I can't work for city government if I have, you know, if I'm justice impacted.
And so we see a lot of people, it's just bringing the awareness to them that, hey, there is an opportunity available for you, and here's the process.
And so we continue to engage that community because there continues to be interest in the information that we're sharing.
