Aldebol asks about Youth Apprenticeship program enrollment

On the Youth Apprenticeship Civil Service title,

since the Youth Apprenticeship Civil Service title program was announced last November, how many youth apprentices have enrolled?

So the Youth Apprenticeship Program is a great example of how DCAS collaborates with other city agencies to implement pathway programs.

So our main role in the Youth Apprenticeship Program was to help the Mayor's Office of Talent and the Department of Education create the title or the vehicle

that is used for that particular program.

So we don't have a direct number for you today because we don't manage the program.

We just help to implement.

So who manages the program?

It's a collaboration between the Mayor's Office of Talent and the Department of Education.

So you don't have any sense of what types of apprenticeships they're enrolled in or what apprenticeships are available through the program?

So what I can say is that the Department of Education taps into their students to participate in the program.

And DCAS's role, we do have a minor role, and Katie, you can chime in, right?

We help to connect.

The students to city agencies that may, you know, have positions available that may be a good fit.

And just that they have several different tracks.

So somebody may be in a project management track or they may be interested in IT.

So within the youth apprentice title, they have different focus areas that they can participate in.

And I know that specifically because I have a couple of them on my team, but they have different tracks that the Department of Education and their partner determine like where the needs are within the city so they can create that track.
