Khan corrects SBS service statistic; Restler cites certified firm contract rates
Khan corrects the figure to 76% of firms that won contracts in FY26 having received SBS services. Restler notes there were 11,382 certified MWBEs and only 2,478 entered a new contract or PO in FY25, meaning 78% did not win new city work.
Can I make a slight correction, Chair?
Sure.
76% of all the firms that won contracts in FY26 received one or more of our services, either the one-on-one technical assistance that we provide,
the connection to the contract financing loan fund, or one of our large networking events where we bring over 100 city and state agencies so the MWB firms can actually network and meet.
contracting professionals.
6% got services.
That's excellent.
We just don't know of the, all of those who have registered, how many actually got contracts.
I think it was like 18 or 19, 20% last fiscal year got a payment.
Is that, it's the number in my brain, but Molly can correct me.
She knows the answer.
There's like three different metrics, so it's hard to.
I think of subject of, from city agencies.
You're right though.
It, you know, as we talked about a little bit earlier in the hearing, Councilmember Brewer, it's like the big, the five non-mayoral agencies or, you know, EDC, NICHA, whatever, SCA.
H&H does get complicated on how we track that data.
I just want to tell you how people do not apply because they don't think they're going to get a contract.
But if– oh, sorry.
At the end of fiscal year– at the end of the fiscal year, there were 11,382 certified MWBEs and just 2,500– 2,478 entered into a new contractor PO in FY25.
So–
I was pretty close.
I think it's one at the problem.
That is the problem.
78% of certified MWs failed to win a new contract with the city in FY25.
So, Vice Chair.
Lincoln, just because you say it doesn't mean it's true.
I'm going to just will it into existence.
He's really trying to get this thing to stick.
Stop trying to make fetch stick.
